Dried beet snacks
Since the vegan fair, I have been craving dried veggie/seed snacks so I just had to make them myself. Other than the long time it has to be in the ovan, it's really easy and delicious.
Recipe: 1 grated beetroot
3 handfuls of coarse oatflakes
~4 - 5 tablesp. demera sugar
~4 tablesp. sunflower seeds
3 tablesp. wheat bran
3 tablsp. wheat flour
pinch of salt
cinnamon, vanilla extract
cup of water
cocoa and gingerbread flavouring if you'd like
Heat the ovan 100 degrees celsius. Mix all the ingridients.
Make a thin layer of the mixture on an ovan plate. On half the mixture, I added cocoa (not big of a deal) and on the other half I added a bit of gingerbread flavouring. This was delicious and I should have put more of it.
If you have layers like I do on the bottom picture, put this in the ovan. You should leave the ovan door open, put something very tiny inbetween the door (like a bottle cork).
Let it be in the ovan for ~4 hours or however much you like.
I had a little problem, at first I didn't want to hold it for too ling (I was afraid of the electricity bill) so I held it like 2,5 hours one evening. In the morning I tried it but it wasn't really very delicious so I held it for another 2 hours and it was so much better. It had a leathery texture and it was good.
All I can say is, this little jar has already found itself in my stomach.
